The researchers tried to develop alternative energy sources to meet human needs. Another alternative energy source is found, the paper battery. Like what?
It is the researchers from Stanford Universiy of developing the paper battery. Way, ordinary sheet of paper that we have met, coated with a special ink made from carbon nanotubes.
In a previous study found that the silicon nanowire can be used to create a battery that is 10 times more powerful than lithium-ion bateri that is widely used today.
“Taking advantage of the technologies of paper, cheap, lightweight and able to deliver large energy can be realized by using conductive paper as current collectors and electrodes,” said the researchers involved in the research, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences that.
Great hope was suspended from the battery of this paper. If the discovery is a success, this type of battery can be used to mendayai electric or hybrid vehicles, because its weight is lighter and more durable. Given that all this size and battery life is still a constraint in the supply of energy for cars and trucks.
“People really need a cheap source of energy but has the ability to save energy topnotch,” said Yi Cui, a member of the research team. Cui also stressed that this paper battery can be used to mendayai various electronic devices.
Quoted by Reuters on Wednesday (9/12/2009), according to Peidong Yang, a professor of chemistry at the University of California-Berkeley, this technology will waltz into the market in the near future.
