IBM to Make Use of DNA microchip
Electronics July 5th, 2009
DNA not only can be used to determine the origin of man, but it is also useful to make regular fixed microchip in a computer, mobile phones and other electronic devices.
This is what is doing International Business Machines (IBM) by using one of the elements contained in every human body is to be a structure in building their latest generation microchip.
Indeed, the chip manufacturing industry is required to make a cheap product, innovative, and cost-effective to win the competition in the market. So no wonder, or by crook until the unthinkable even be done by the manufacturer.
In the journal Nature Nanotechnology mentioned, nanostruktur artificial DNA or the so-called ‘DNA origami’ can provide an inexpensive framework that can be used to create a miniature microchip.
So you can imagine how small it later. Because it already has mikropchip a miniature form. Now, with this DNA element, is expected to make a microchip smaller again.
“This is the first demonstration that uses biological molecules to assist in the process of the semiconductor industry,” said IBM research manager, Spike Narayan told Reuters, quoted, Tuesday (18/8/2009).
However, the end of this study can not seem to be enjoyed in a short time. Even predicted, the study of this project no later take up to 10 years to be perfect.
